The Goring is as close as possible to the palace of Buckingham without being inside its grounds. It was also Kate Middleton's home a few days before her wedding to the royal family and one of the Queen Mother's favorite establishments.
So why is the royal family so attached to the Goring? It's the only hotel with a royal mandate for hospitality services, and since 1910, every reigning monarch has passed through its doors.
Another reason may be that this is another enduring family institution, in the same hands as in 1910at the time of its construction.
