Pride in London itself is a not-for-profit organization that promotes and supports the capital's LGBTQ+ communities.

Every summer, the city hosts Pride in London, a huge celebration and vital platform for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or otherwise.

Get ready for huge parties, amazingly fun events and a lot more! a parade to round off the event.

What is the route of the Pride parade in London??

Some 30,000 participants and 300 floats will set off from Hyde Park Corner at noon in early July, dancing and singing on Park Lane, along the Piccadillyon Haymarket to Trafalgar Square and ending in Whitehall.

The history of Gay Pride in London?

The origins of Pride in London date back to the first official Gay Pride march on 1ᵉʳ July 1972, although there were earlier marches at Highbury Fields in 1970.

Inspired by the Stonewall events in New York three years earlier, the parade saw 2,000 participants armed with banners, tambourines, balloons and whistles descend on Trafalgar Square, then walk to Hyde Park for a picnic.

Today's route retraces that of the inaugural march, although it now begins in Hyde Park, rather than ending there.

Golden Hinde: at a glance

The original Golden Hinde was the first maritime museum. It was located in Deptford, London. for almost 70 years before it was demolished.

The replica was built in Appledore. Using traditional restoration methods, the replica spent most of its life on public display. Like the original ship, it has also sailed around the world.

A large-scale project

Since its launch in 1973, the Hinde has covered more than 160,000 km, including a complete circumnavigation of the globe. two other Atlantic crossings to his credit.

In 2017, knowing that the need for a major conservation project was looming, a full survey was commissioned and the marine surveyor confirmed the building's solidity.

The team's plan was to replace "identically", returning the gallion to its original state when launched.

A costly restoration

Following Henry VIII, a succession of royals marked their presence at Hampton Court by making alterations to the palace itself and to the grounds. to the 800 acres of gardens and parks that surround it.

A green setting

Most visitors pass through the gates and head straight for the estate's magnificent complex of red-brick buildings.

Here, you can spend a whole day exploring 500 years of English history, wandering through the royal apartments and great halls, admiring the art galleries and furniture along the way.

A series of renovations that have changed the face of the garden

What is now known as Pond Garden was a fish farm in medieval times.

Henry VIII strutted his stuff in the heraldic Tudor-style private garden, designed for his quiet, exclusive use.

Charles I, an art collector who stayed sporadically at Hampton Court after his accession to the crown in 1625, ordered the private garden to be rebuilt in the Italian style, to better display a collection of classical statues.

In 1701, Wilhelm III and Maria II ordered a renovation with elaborate Baroque touches. Alas, William III didn't live to enjoy the transformations. In 1702, he fell from his horse and died.

Visitors to the garden now see a 1995 reconstruction of the garden designed by William III.

Hampton Court Garden: an extraordinary vegetable garden

The kitchen garden remains, as in centuries past, the most active of all the palace gardens, producing fruit and vegetables all year round.

Today, it represents around one-sixth of its original size. At the beginning of the 20th century, a large part of the space was transformed into a rose garden, filled with old English fragrant varieties.

Later, hybrid roses were introduced, the garden adopting its current geometric style.

Fresh vegetables all year round

Christ Church College's ornate staircase

Taking us back to the first Harry Potter films, this famous staircase appears in many Harry Potter scenes.

Harry, Hermione, Ron and others are heading up the stairs to meet Professor McGonagall.

In the second film, after Harry and Ron miss the Hogwarts Express train, the duo climb these stairs to find Argus Filch.

The staircase is also where a flashback scene shows Tom Jedusor talking to Dumbledore in "Chamber of Secrets".

Harry Potter in Oxford: discover the university cloister

Christ Church was founded as a monastery in the 8th century. Cloisters were common in monasteries. They offered a sheltered space allowing monks to wander undisturbed.

Christ Church's cloisters are spectacular, with Gothic architecture and intricate design details.

These cloisters can be seen in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". like a corridor at Hogwarts where Harry sees his father's trophy.

The large dining room

Although no filming took place here, Christ Church's dining room served as inspiration.

Photographs of the room were used to create a set in the London studios. It's easy to see the similarities.

High ceilings, long dining tables with a head table at the front, and the elaborate windows create a Great Hall atmosphere.

The only thing missing? Floating candles, an enchanted ceiling and a row of magical teachers.

Harry Potter in Oxford: the courtyard of New College

In "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", the cloisters and courtyard of New College are seen as Harry makes his way through a crowd of other students.

In the courtyard of New College, Harry tells Cedric Diggory that the first thing they'll have to do in the Three Wizards' Tournament is defeat the dragons.

The exterior of Divinity School

The Divinity School appears in numerous scenes in the first four Harry Potter films.

In the first film, it served as an infirmary at Hogwarts, where Harry recovers after his first confrontation with Voldemort.

The school also appears in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", when Harry and Hermione use the time-reversal device to save the hippogriff and Sirius Black.

We see it again in "Goblet of Fire" when Professor McGonagall teaches Ron how to dance for the ball.
