Diana Memorial Playground: a space for the little ones

Visit Diana Memorial Playground is located in Kensington Gardens, next to Princess Diana's home at Kensington Palace.

This playground was created by the Diana Memorial Fund and opened on June 30, 2000 in her memory.

The Princess Diana Memorial Playground is a superb playground located in the gardens of Kensingtonin London, and a fitting tribute to Princess Diana.

The playground is beautifully laid out and cleverly designed, and it's no wonder it's become popular as a one of the most important activities to do with children in London.

A playground in Kensington Gardens

The Memorial Playground is centrally located, just a few steps from Kensington High Street and the train station. Notting Hill Gate.

The playground is also about a 25-minute walk from the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, and could therefore be combined with a full-day museum visit in the region.

Diana Memorial Playground: a huge pirate ship

The centerpiece of the Diana Memorial is the fantastic wooden pirate ship in the middle of a sandy beach.

Children can access the pirate ship on thick rope bridges and ladders, and once on board, they'll be able to make their own way around, explore the lower deck or climb the crow's nest.

A water space

During the summer months, water games next to the sandy beach are among the most popular play elements, perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

Diana Memorial Playground: musical reading area

Head to the far end of the playground to find a musical playground nestled in the trees.

There is an area reserved for under-3s near the entrance, including :

• Small wooden cabins
• A swing
• A large trailer
• A wooden cart.

Cross the trees to find a sandy area ideal for toddlers.

The sandbox includes a slide, wooden boats to sit on and a rudder to move back and forth, as well as a sieve and chute for sand.

How much does entry to the playground cost??

Admission is free and reserved for children aged 12 and under.

The playground is securely fenced, with a single gate manned by an attendant in a cabin who keeps an eye on the play area. no unaccompanied adults enter and no unaccompanied children leave.

Only adults supervising the children may enter. If an accompanying adult leaves the play area with the intention of returning, he/she must inform the staff.

Diana Memorial Playground: the Broad Walk café

The Broad Walk Café is located opposite the playground entrance and serves :

• Tea
• Coffee
• Fruit juices
• Sandwiches
• Salads
• Stone-baked pizzas

There's also a takeaway area in the Diana Princess of Wales playground for placing and collecting orders.

There are several picnic tables for coffee just opposite the Memorial Playground entrance, as well as picnic areas in the playground.

The Diana Playground is open every day of the year except Christmas Daystarting at 10 a.m.

Closing times vary according to the time of year.

To get there, you can use public transport. The easiest way is to take the metro and exit at the stations :
