Visit Sunborn Yacht Hotel London has always seemed a very elegant and rather fun place to stay in London.
It was originally built as an ocean-going yacht, but was later converted into a hotel.
Today, I'd like to introduce you to this unusual place to spend the night.
Yacht Hotel London : article summary
Sunborn Yacht Hotel London: what are the rates?
The site offers a flexible rate that allows cancellation up to 2 p.m. on the same day. If you book directly, you'll receive a free upgrade.
As a result, you'll be able to move into a room that's better equipped than the basic accommodation, offering a view of the river rather than the quay.
For reservations, I advise you to visit the official website.
Where is the yacht?
The yacht is moored right next to the Excel, so there are decent transport options within walking distance.
You can arrive by the IFS Cloud cable car via the North Greenwich tube on the Jubilee line. If you make this trip in the evening, you might be lucky enough to catch a magnificent sunset.
It's about a 7-minute walk from the cable car.
Check-in at the Sunborn London Yacht Hotel
The hotel is very popular, so when you arrive there will probably be a queue. Once you've checked in, you'll realize that this isn't the quickest process.
To avoid any inconvenience, I advise you to book online. This will save you when you arrive at the hotel.
Even if you've paid in advance, you may be asked to present a credit card. Don't be surprised, this is common practice in London hotels.
Luxurious rooms at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel London
Whether you choose a classic room or a premium suite, the staff will direct you to the floor of your choice.
Again, because of the hotel's popularity, there may be a long wait for the elevators.
The rooms are the right size, and more like a junior suite. There's a desk for working or doing your hair/make-up, with an outlet nearby and a huge mirror.
The bathroom isn't particularly luxurious either, and really resembles a yacht bathroom being very small. Toiletries are provided, but they're nothing special.
The bedding itself remains comfortable. However, don't expect great luxury. In fact, some gents offer single beds.
Enjoy a full breakfast
Breakfast was a buffet of different dishes, tea and coffee. The buffet offers a reasonable choice, including a full English breakfast, smoked salmon, meats and cheeses, as well as pastries and bread.
In addition to the restaurant, which is also open for afternoon tea and dinner, there's the Sundown bar, which is pleasant in summer.
Although it's not quite what I'd call a luxury hotel experience, you do get a lot of space in your room, which would be difficult in many hotels. It's certainly a unique experience for your next vacation.
