It has raised<strong> billions of pounds for various organizations over the years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each year, it attracts elite athletes from around the world, as well as thousands of amateur runners and charity fundraisers. It's known for the diversity and inclusion of its participants.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-986\" src=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres.jpg\" alt=\"london marathon\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres-1024x619.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres-768x464.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/marathon-londres-1536x929.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc153880838\"><\/a><strong>How to apply?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To apply for the marathon, you must submit your application to their ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this year's applications are now closed and <strong>the selected votes were contacted in July.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But don't worry, you can still take part in one of London's many other races.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Fairly high costs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you have applied to the marathon ballot and have been selected for the race, you will need to have paid the full entry fee of \u00a369.99 (for UK participants) or<strong> 146 (for international participants)<\/strong> for reserving your place.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for this was <strong>Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 4 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc153880839\"><\/a><strong>How difficult is it to qualify for the London Marathon?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Candidates for the marathon ballot are chosen at random, so that all candidates have an equal chance of selection.<\/p>\n<p>However, you can increase your chances of being selected by choosing to donate your entry fee. <strong>when you register to vote in the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By doing so, you'll be entered into a second draw for another chance to secure your place in the race.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc153880840\"><\/a><strong>How long is the London Marathon?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The marathon is the same length as a typical marathon, 42.195 km. The course is largely flat and follows the banks of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-river\/\">Thames<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc153880841\"><\/a><strong>Where is the finish line?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The London Marathon starts at <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/greenwich\/\">Greenwich<\/a> Park and ends at The Mall, near <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/buckingham-palace\/\">Buckingham Palace<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Runners will also pass many iconic monuments on their way, such as :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-bridge\/\">Tower Bridge<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-eye\/\">London Eye<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/tour-of-london\/\">Tower of London<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc153880842\"><\/a><strong>When did the London 2023 marathon take place?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This year's marathon took place on April 23 and was the first race to be held in spring since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the races have been held in the autumn, postponed due to Covid-19-related delays. The winner of the 2023 edition was Kenyan rider Kelvin Kiptum, who <strong>broke the marathon record with a final time of 2:01:25.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you're sporty, the London Marathon is a great way to train.
