War museum in London: at a glance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Imperial War Museum was opened to the public in 1920, when it was <strong>located in the Crystal Palace on Sydenham Hill.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since then, the museum has been moved, relocated and renovated countless times, until it was finally transferred to its current location in the former Bethlem Royal Hospital on Lambeth Road.<\/p>\n<p>The Imperial War Museum is in fact a \"family\" of five different museums, including :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Churchill War Rooms<\/li>\n<li>HMS Belfast<\/li>\n<li>Imperial War Museum North at Trafford<\/li>\n<li>Imperial War Museum Duxford<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>His many exhibitions cover everything from the First and Second World Wars to September 11, including<strong> the Falklands, Northern Ireland, Yugoslavia, Korea and many other wars.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The museum also focuses specifically on conflicts involving Britain and the Commonwealth, and even features name=\"_Toc151354116\"><\/a><strong>What can you expect on site?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Even before entering the building, visitors are greeted with naval cannons, then enter the spectacular central hall featuring tanks, cannons and aircraft suspended from the ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>The museum has numerous permanent galleries, some of which include the Lord Ashcroft Gallery, <strong>Extraordinary Heroes and Secret War.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the Holocaust exhibition is perhaps the most intimidating and a must-see for all visitors.<\/p>\n<p>There's also an exhibition on \"Crimes against humanity\" which educates visitors about the horrors and atrocities of various genocides around the world, and also covers <strong>the beginnings of MI5, MI6 and Special Forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Imperial War museum in London: unique conferences<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you're lucky, during your visit, the museum can even organize a free lecture so that you can talk to <strong>people who have personally experienced conflict.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the many exhibits, displays and events in the museum, some of the many fascinating objects you can expect to see at the Imperial War Museum include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A piece of the Berlin Wall<\/li>\n<li>A small pair of children's shoes from one of the liberated Nazi concentration camps<\/li>\n<li>Suicide vest from a \"potential\" suicide bomber<\/li>\n<li>Collections of some of the first nuclear missiles<\/li>\n<li>An Argentinian operating table from the
