There's live jazz every night of the week which, in harmony with the utterly civilized setting, is just loud enough <strong>to be appreciated without drowning out all possibility of conversation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The cocktails here are as delicious as they are daring. Each is named after a famous character, and the menu is accompanied by illustrations by renowned cartoonist Gerald Scarfe.<\/p>\n<p>The venue opens every evening:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday to Saturday<strong> from 8 p.m. to midnight<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Sunday<strong> from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc150960160\"><\/a><strong>The Nightjar<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Few bars pull off the \"speakeasy\" style as well as Nightjar. This Shoreditch institution, and one of London's best bars, is hidden underground, <strong>not far from the Old Street traffic circle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It's full of dark, cosy corners, wood panelling and antique knick-knacks. The drinks menu spans decades and celebrates cocktails made in the pre-Prohibition era.<\/p>\n<p>There are concerts every evening from 9 pm.
