In fact, the city is home to <strong>the real Alice in Wonderland, and serves as the filming location for Harry Potter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then you can find a beautiful tree on Christ Church Meadow, settle down with a book and relax for hours.<\/p>\n<p>There is a direct train <strong>from London Marylebone or London Paddington to get there<\/strong>. Return tickets start at \u00a325.60.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc150829661\"><\/a><strong>Portsmouth<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Portsmouth may not be the first place that springs to mind when you consider a day trip outside London.<\/p>\n<p>Only 1 hour 30 minutes by train from the capital, Portsmouth <strong>is well worth a visit and perfect for a break during your stay.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The town has a beach and two jetties, perfect for soaking up the sun and filling up on vitamin D. The historic shipyard, home to the famous HMS Victory, is an ideal place to learn more about Britain's maritime history.<\/p>\n<p>If ships aren't your thing, don't worry, Gunwharf Quays is right next to the wharves and <strong>is home to countless retail outlets, making it a shopper's paradise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get there, take a direct train from London Bridge or Waterloo. It costs \u00a329.50.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc150829662\"><\/a><strong>Cities around London: Bath<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you're interested in the cultural and historical side of England, Bath is a great place to visit, especially if you combine your stay with a trip to Stonehenge.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you're looking for relaxation, there's perhaps no better place, <strong>given the city's 2,000-year history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to its history, Bath boasts beautiful architecture and a variety of boutiques to satisfy your shopping desires.<\/p>\n<p>Immerse yourself in British history by visiting not one, but two UNESCO World Heritage sites in one day!<\/p>\n<p>To get there, take the train from London Paddington. A return ticket costs \u00a357.50. This is <strong>a little expensive compared to the other destinations mentioned above.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>London's surrounding areas are places not to be missed.
