The view over <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/trafalgar-square\/\">Trafalgar Square<\/a> and Whitehall to <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/big-ben\/\">Big Ben<\/a> and Parliament is incredible.<\/p>\n<p>Here you can find Christmas decorations, hats and gloves, various types of street food and <strong>unique gift ideas for friends and family.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Southbank market <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A few steps from the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-eye\/\">London Eye<\/a>On the banks of the Thames is the Southbank Centre Christmas Market.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of London's smallest Christmas markets, and it only takes a few minutes to stroll around. <strong>in front of the few stores it houses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This market is more about food and drink than buying gifts and souvenirs.<\/p>\n<p>If you're planning a trip on the London Eye, it's well worth a quick browse through this market, to try some new dishes or to see what's on offer.<strong> warm up with a cup of mulled wine or hot cider.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Leicester Square Market <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This ephemeral market in Leicester Square is simply magnificent. It's small, it's beautifully decorated and every year there are <strong>unique stores you won't find anywhere else.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc148380513\"><\/a><strong>London Christmas: shopping in department stores<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In December, many large <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/deco-store-london\/\">London stores<\/a> have elaborate window displays and decorations.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Harrod's<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/harrods-london\/\">Harrod's<\/a> is London's premier department store. Seven floors brimming with luxury goods to buy from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>They even offer a tea room. Harrod's is located <strong>in Knightsbridge on Brompton Road.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Selfridges<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Selfridges is an upmarket department store located on <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/oxford-street\/\">Oxford Street<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This store is famous for its creative window displays, so much so that they were photographed and featured in :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vogue<\/li>\n<li>Icon<\/li>\n<li>Harper's Bazaar<\/li>\n<li>New York Times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In December, <strong>the windows take on a Christmas theme.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hamley's<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Hamley's is London's largest toy store.<\/p>\n<p>If you visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/what-to-do-in-london-with-children\/\">London with children<\/a>don't miss this colourful and <strong>somewhat chaotic during the holiday season.<\/strong> It is located on Regent Street.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc148380514\"><\/a><strong>See the tree in Trafalgar Square<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Every year, Norway presents Great Britain with a tree, a tradition that has lasted since 1947.<\/p>\n<p>This tradition began just after the Second World War. Norway donated the tree to London <strong>in gratitude for British support during the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lighting ceremony takes place on the first Thursday in December. It's a popular event to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The tree is decorated in a traditional Norwegian style, with lights running from the top to the bottom of the tree.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc148380515\"><\/a><strong>London Christmas: dinner in an igloo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One of the unique things to do in London at Christmas is to dine in an igloo. It's much cozier than it sounds.<\/p>\n<p>These small glass rooms are well heated and feature blankets, <strong>just in case you're still a little cold.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are several places in the city where you can do this.<\/p>\n<p>This is particularly true of the Aviary Rooftop restaurant, located <strong>atop the Montcalm Royal House hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other restaurants of this type can be found all over London. You'll find this type of attraction :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the Skylight Tobacco Dock<\/li>\n<li>At Jimmy's Lodge<\/li>\n<li>At the Alpine Club.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc148380516\"><\/a><strong>London at Christmas: visit the gingerbread city<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It's another unique thing to do in London this Christmas. The exhibition features an enticing and whimsical village <strong>made entirely of gingerbread.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over 100 architects, designers, artists and engineers work together to create an urban Christmas village of gingerbread, icing and candy.<\/p>\n<p>Each year features a different theme. A visit to Gingerbread Town is a snap, <strong>taking about half an hour or less.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now you know what to do this Christmas in London.
