Discover this miniature China!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introducing this Chinatown<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Chinatown district is <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/soho\/\">Soho<\/a>and consists of <strong>9 streets<\/strong> that intertwine <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/trafalgar-square\/\">Trafalgar Square<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/piccadilly-circus\/\">Piccadilly Circus<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/covent-garden\/\">Covent Garden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is bounded by <strong>4 doors<\/strong> which serve as access points: 3 are fairly conventional and were created in 1986; but the 4\u1d49 is quite atypical: it was designed in Beijing, in the purest style of <strong>the Qing dynasty<\/strong> (who ruled China between 1644 and 1912) and was inaugurated in 2016 by Prince Andrew. Don't miss it, because it's magnificent.<\/p>\n<p>It's worth noting that this Chinatown is relatively recent, having developed here <strong>in the 70s<\/strong>. Immigrants from the Middle Kingdom used to occupy several streets in East London, on the <em>Limehouse<\/em> (near <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/canary-wharf\/\">Canary Wharf<\/a>). A convenient location for its proximity to the docks, as the Chinese who came to London were mostly sailors. At the time, it was possible to consume <strong>Opium<\/strong>\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>After the intensive bombing of London during the Second World War, this first Chinatown was destroyed and the Chinese gradually relocated. Admittedly, it's not the most British of neighborhoods (!), but you'll find more than enough to have a great time, and a lot to discover!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Chinese food<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Do you love Asian food? You'll be in heaven in Chinatown! Visit <strong>lacquered ducks<\/strong> Dim Sum, fried pork and other delicacies of Chinese cuisine, you'll be spoilt for choice in the main streets of the district.<\/p>\n<p>It's possible to eat Korean, Japanese or Vietnamese food in the neighborhood, but you might as well go for the authentic stuff! What's more, you'll notice that the dishes offered in these establishments are often <strong>much more traditional<\/strong> than those found in France. A real insight into China's (very rich) culinary tradition.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Shopping<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Chinatown is packed with souvenir stores, clothing boutiques and food supermarkets. You'll be able to pick up a few Asian trinkets and take advantage of your visit to this local China to do some Asian shopping!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Visit Chinatown by night<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Strolling the streets of London's Chinatown is pleasant during the day, with a lively district and a fairly frenetic atmosphere. But in the evening, when the neon lights on the storefronts come on and the lanterns shine brightly, it's a different story, <strong>it's magic<\/strong>\u00a0!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Discover Chinese medicine<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Chinese medicine is based on the benefits of plants and a particular knowledge of the body. Among its spearheads are acupuncture and certain vital point massages, which you can discover in this Chinatown.<\/p>\n<p>Several <strong>herbalists<\/strong> are well established, if you want to buy herbs and plants to treat your ailments naturally, as in Asia.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Chinese New Year<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Chinese New Year<\/strong> are held here every year between the end of January and the first half of February. If you're in London at this time, you must see the various shows and ceremonies held in Chinatown and the surrounding main districts.
