With more than 45 million passengers a year, it is the second busiest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-airport\/\">London airports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 1930<\/strong>It opened as a simple flying club for enthusiasts, before becoming an airfield for use by the general public. A more intimate journey, where you can enjoy a few anecdotes about the city and its people. <strong>good deals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And it's no more expensive, because the price is fixed. No stress, no nasty surprises!<br \/>\n<a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Using the Gatwick Express<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This shuttle train connects Gatwick to London (and Victoria Station, in <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/westminster\/\">Westminster<\/a>which is connected to the Victoria, District and Circle Lines of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-metro\/\">London Underground<\/a>) in <strong>30 minutes<\/strong>with departures every 15 minutes or so.<\/p>\n<p>A practical if somewhat expensive solution, with tickets at :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>19.90 (one-way)<\/li>\n<li>34.90 for a return ticket valid for 30 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provides <strong>the fastest solution<\/strong> to London. It's best to book your ticket online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good to know<\/strong>\u00a0It is possible to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/oyster\/\">Oyster Card<\/a> to pay for it, if you've loaded it beforehand.<br \/>\n<a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Take the Thameslink train<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Visit <strong>Thameslink<\/strong> runs between Brighton and Bedford, serving Gatwick airport at the same time. It will also take you to London King's Cross ( <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-station\/\">London station<\/a> for Harry Potter fans!) or at <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-bridge\/\">London Bridge<\/a> at <strong>30 minutes approx.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It operates between 5.30am and 11pm every day, with fares starting from \u00a311.30.<br \/>\n<a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Opt for the Southern train<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The company <strong>Southern Railway<\/strong> also runs to London from Gatwick to Victoria Station. Cost: <strong>40-minute journey<\/strong>with tickets starting at \u00a39.00.<\/p>\n<p>It's the solution <strong>the cheapest<\/strong>which allows you to arrive not far from <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/buckingham-palace\/\">Buckingham Palace<\/a> if you plan to stay at the center.<br \/>\n<a name=\"6\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Use the National Express buses<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The company <strong>National Express<\/strong> offers buses that take 1h15 \/ 1h30 to reach Victoria station. It's a long journey, but one that saves you a lot of money. Tickets start at \u00a37.50.<\/p>\n<p>If you have the time and a small budget, it's a good choice!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good to know<\/strong>\u00a0Another bus solution is to take the EasyBus shuttle, available to Easyjet travelers. A 1h20 ride will take you to the city center, but you need to buy your tickets in advance with your plane tickets.<br \/>\n<a name=\"7\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cab or Uber from Gatwick?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is possible to borrow a <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/london-cab\/\">London Taxi<\/a> or an Uber from Gatwick airport, for easy access to the city center. While this is a practical solution, it's still very expensive, with fares starting from \u00a370 (with an Uber) and around \u00a3100 if you opt for a cab.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage is that you'll be dropped off in front of your hotel or Airbnb, and there's no need to book. The (black) cabs are laid out at the exit and you won't be able to miss them.<br \/>\n<a name=\"8\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>London Gatwick Airport &gt; city center: which method is best?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It's easy to get to London city center from Gatwick, and easy to get back to the airport once your stay is over.
