However, in the second half of the 20th century, as port activity declined, <strong>the docks<\/strong> one after the other, and the neighborhood is left to rot.<\/p>\n<p>A state agency, the <em>London Docklands Development Corporation<\/em>was created in an attempt to revitalize activity in the area. It's a time of financial development, and banks are looking to set up in the area. <strong>out of the City<\/strong>where new construction is very complicated.<\/p>\n<p>A Canadian company (<em>Olympia and York<\/em>) acquires the space. Construction begins, with the <strong><em>One Canada Square<\/em><\/strong> then the tallest building in the UK at 235 meters. Canary Wharf doesn't have the appeal of its neighbors to the west, which are packed with monuments.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is a place that can <strong>worth a look<\/strong>with several points of interest that I'll outline below.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>London Docklands Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The history of a city's docks is often quite fascinating, as these areas were of paramount importance when ships were the most widely used means of transporting goods.<\/p>\n<p>You can relive this history with a free visit to <strong>London Docklands Museum<\/strong>. Through period documents, videos and permanent or temporary exhibitions, you'll travel through the past of this much-changed area.<\/p>\n<p>Open daily from 10am to 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>Address: <em>No.1 Warehouse, West India Quay, London E14 4AL<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Admire the skyscrapers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As you stroll through this district, all you have to do is <strong>look up<\/strong> to observe the immense buildings that make it up. Some of the country's most imposing skyscrapers and the headquarters of numerous financial institutions, which you're sure to recognize.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Taking a coffee\/beer break amid the hustle and bustle<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Suited businessmen are everywhere in Canary Wharf. You'll see them bustling about on the stoops of their companies or in the caf\u00e9s \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourlondres.fr\/en\/ads\/\">ads<\/a>at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>By asking <strong>on the terrace<\/strong> You'll catch snippets of 100 % London conversations, for a slice of life shared even if you're not from this world!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Do some shopping at Jubilee Place Shopping<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is a large shopping center at Canary Wharf, called the <strong>Jubilee Place Shopping<\/strong>. All you need to know to make the most of your visit to Canary Wharf, if you decide to explore this London business center.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Opening hours<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While some of the stores close early in the area (6pm), there are plenty of restaurants to enjoy the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Some are located <strong>in the heights<\/strong>You can choose from two different types of apartments: some are located in the center of the city, to take advantage of the sensational views they offer over the neighborhood, while others are on the banks of the Thames, if you want to enjoy the view over the water.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tips and practical information<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In summer, the area is <strong>very quiet<\/strong>emptied of its businessmen and women. If you're in London during the summer season, it can be fun to visit Canary Wharf then. It's a complete contrast to central London at the same time!<br \/>\n<a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What to see and do in the area?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The area around Canary Wharf is not very attractive.
