L'heure du thé is an old-fashioned meal taken in the late afternoon or early evening. This light meal consists of :

- Several pastries
- Bread
- Jam
- Sandwiches.
Afternoon tea has its origins in the observance of customs common among the wealthy socialites of early England.
Anna Maria, Duchess of Bedford, invented afternoon tea. Over the years, it's become a less formal meal.
Sunday roast
One of the most historic and famous dishes to try in London is Sunday Roast. This sumptuous meal originated in England, where it was traditional to take a hearty meal after Sunday services.
The meal is usually served on Sunday and includes :
- Roasted meat
- Mashed potatoes
- Roasted potatoes
- Mint sauce
- Yorkshire pudding
This appetizing dish is also served with vegetables.
You can find Sunday Roast in most pubs on Sundays.
Typical London dishes: bangers and mashed potato
Also known as sausage and mashed potato, this traditional London dish is easy to prepare and has been around for centuries.
Popular in Great Britain and Ireland, bangers and mashed potato consist of flavoured pork, lamb or beef sausages served with mashed potatoes.
It is usually served with an onion sauce and can also include fried peas and/or onions.
Mainly served in pubs, it's hard to resist the succulent sausages wrapped in a delicious, creamy pile of mashed potatoes and fragrant onion gravy.
Because of its popularity, this dish ranks as one of Britain's most popular.
Beef Wellington
Looking for refined British cuisine? One of Gordon Ramsay's favorite dishes, Beef Wellington is a roast that you must try on your visit to London.
It's a delicious steak dish consisting of beef tenderloin wrapped in puff pastry, then baked in the oven.
Wellingtons are very popular in Europe. However, most British people agree that Beef Wellington is as English as possible.
This dish was created to celebrate the first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, and his victory at the Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815.
