Central London doesn't offer the most affordable hotel rates, so if you're looking to travel on a budget, you can look outside the city center.
Just make sure there's public transport nearby. Savings can be made on activities, however, as London is full of free museums and attractions that are well worth a visit.
Taking advantage of different means of transport
London's public transport network will take you wherever you need to go. Visit metro from London is an efficient and affordable way to get around the city. Full-fare one-way tickets cost just over £6But there are more affordable options.
Reduced-rate tickets can be purchased at the station using contactless debit or credit cards, or by purchasing an Oyster Card.
The use of Oyster Card or contactless card reduces the fare. Buses are an even cheaper option and cover the whole city.
You can also use London's famous black cabs, but the latter are much more expensive.
London tourism: enjoy London's main attractions
London is packed with incredible places to explore. The city is home to 95 free museums and 487 free tourist attractions.
Buckingham Palace
For just 10 weeks each year, visitors can tour several of the most prestigious rooms in the Buckingham Palacehome of the British monarch.

Pickpocketing is the most common crime faced by tourists in London. Be on the alert in busy areas, tourist hotspots and on public transport.

Make sure you select accommodation in safe neighborhoods. If you're going out late at night, take a cab back to your hotel rather than walking, especially if you've had a few drinks.
