London in summer: article summary
London in summer: enjoy a picnic in the park
London's parks are the place to be in summer, and there's no better way to enjoy a day in the sun than with a picnic in the park.
If you're visiting London, I recommend a picnic in St. James' Park. With views over Buckingham Palace and the London EyeSt. James Park is one of my favorite places in London.
Prepare a picnic basket, take a blanket and choose a shady spot at the end of the day.
Spend the whole day on a pub terrace
There's nothing better than a summer's day spent with friends on the terrace of your favorite pub. With pitchers of pub ale and food to accompany them, there's literally no reason to leave.
Most pubs also move televisions outdoors during the summer, so you never miss a sport.
Sit in the sun or opt for the shade, just make sure you choose a place where you can sit all day!
London in summer: a tour of the food markets
The Saturday market in Duke of York Square is open all year round and is one of my favorite food markets in London.
This is partly due to its small size, which makes it easy to try out everything. They also serve champagne and cocktails.
If you're looking for something more central, we also love Maltby Street Market. It's one of our favorite spots on our London Bridge Food Tour!
Take a walk along the Thames
Strolling along the river in London offers plenty to see and do. There are museums, pubs, tourist attractions and incredible architecture!
Westminster and London Bridge are both excellent starting points: just choose a direction and start walking.
If you want to feel like you're escaping from the city, start in Richmond and stroll along the the Thames towards Mortlake.
You'll be transported to a different world, and you'll find many pubs where stop along the way.
London in summer: soak up the sun on Brighton beach
A warm summer's day is a call to take a day trip to Brighton. This fun and easy day trip from London allows you to make the most of summer in England.
On the spot, you'll find yourself at the beach! Soak up the sun, have a picnic or just wander around for hours. There's so much to do, and you can even go for a swim. An unforgettable vacation experience!
Attend a festival
London and its surroundings are transformed into festival grounds all summer long! Wherever you look, there's something going on. Find a festival that suits your style, buy a ticket and get in on the fun!
And of course, there are other major festivals across the UK. Glastonbury takes place at the end of June, and if you're lucky enough to get tickets, you'll see artists like :
- The Killers
- Foo Fighters
- The Who
If you want to head north, it's much easier to visit the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Visiting London in summer is a great way to see the city from a different angle. Between outings and good weather, you'll have a wonderful summer in the English capital!
