London in August: enjoy the Great British Beer Festival
This beer festival has been described as the biggest pub in the world. Its full title is The Great British Beer Festival and it is essentially an annual gathering of some of the brightest minds in the brewing industry.
There are said to be over a thousand different drinks on offer, including ciders if you want to diversify your tasting.
Test the escape room dedicated to Sherlock Holmes
If you're looking for something to do in town with friends, I recommend a trip to the escape room dedicated to Sherlock Holmes.
The Mind of Moriarty: Live Escape Experience draws on the mysteries of the Sherlock series to create an experience that promises to be a thrill-fest.
Fans of the series will be delighted with this adventure, which puts you at the center of the chessboard. This time, you take on Holmes' sworn enemy: Moriarty.
London in August: take a dip in the Thames
With London's warmer weather in recent years, it's very tempting to swim in open water, but it's essential to be careful.
This is why Canary Wharf has opened a safe open water swimming area. In partnership with Love Open Water and Canal & River Trust, the open water area is 600 metres long.
It can be used safely by anyone over the age of ten who can swim. Lifeguards are also available to provide assistance if needed.
To access the pool, you need to buy a £15 NOWCA membership card, and you'll then have access to over 40 pools in the city. Worth cool off on long days.
Attend the Tête à Tête Opera Festival
The Tête à Tête Opera Festival is back in the capital, and in my opinion it's one of the best London events of August.
Led by Artistic Director Bill Bankes-Jones and Musical Director Timothy Burke, the company creates inclusive operas, offering opportunities to people from all walks of life.
The result? Culturally rich stories told in surprising ways. On site, you can enjoy a different program every year. Enough to renew the pleasure every time you visit London.
London in August: the Summer Sounds Music Festival
Head to Coal Drops Yard in August for a festival with a line-up that rivals the big boys.
Summer Sounds hosts open-air concerts:
- Every evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. family Sundays
Expect an eclectic mix of music from genres as diverse as opera and soul, classical and dance, all free of charge.
Enjoy a candlelight concert
You've probably heard of Candlelight. They've become one of London's hottest concert promoters, having organized these superb musical performances on candlelit stages.
They cover everything from film scores to hits by bands like Fleetwood Mac and artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
It's a unique event in town. On site, you'll discover a stage filled with candles. A dreamlike vision for your evening.
London in August: cocktails in the city
Cocktails in the City is an event celebrated throughout London in August. This booze fest features some of the world's leading of the city's top mixologists.
The peak of the party takes place in bars such as :
- Coupette
- Flight Club
- Callooh Callay

As if that weren't interesting enough, you can also enjoy street food, music and a silent disco on site.
Discover Waterstones Book Festival
The annual Waterstones Bookfest brings together a group of authors from a range of writing genres to two days of conferences and activities.
Among the names present at the last edition were fantasy authors:
- AY Chao, who wrote Shanghai Immortal
