London Design Museum: what are the opening times?
To visit the London Design Museum, you can go to :
- Every day 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
I recommend you get there as early as possible if you want to avoid the crowds.
Last admission is at 5 p.m., so keep this in mind if you're planning a late visit. If, however, you prefer an evening at the museum, go to the first Friday of each month to enjoy the exhibitions until 8 pm.
Closed the day before NoëlChristmas Day and Boxing Day.
How do I get there?
London has a highly-developed underground transport system that will drop you right in front of the London Design Museum.
The museum is located in the heart of Kensingtonjust off the high street. Hop on the Circle or District lines and head for High Street Kensington station to reach the venue!
How much do tickets cost?
Ticket prices vary according to the exhibition or event you are attending, and many free tickets are available.
When planning your visit, it is therefore advisable to check which exhibition is taking place and then find out how much it costs on the website.

Permanent exhibitions
This is the best time to visit the Design Museum, as the very first permanent exhibition is installed.
It's called Designer Maker User and is essentially an introduction to the museum's collection. It's a great way to get an idea of the exhibitions that interest you most from a selection of 1,000 objects from the 20th and 21st centuries representing the evolution of design in contemporary society.
London Design Museum: visiting with children
If you're visiting the museum with children, here's a little planning you can do beforehand to make the day enjoyable for everyone.
Firstly, many family events are organized, but if you're traveling during the school vacations or a weekend, you'll want to get there as soon as possible to reserve your place.
The Antifurniture event, for example, is a drop-in event and free of charge, so it can get very busy around midday.
Secondly, the restaurant is charming and therefore extremely popular. Fortunately, they take reservations. So to avoid a hungry child and a long queue, book a table.
The Design Museum is not a must-see. However, I do recommend a detour. You'll be able to discover unique to make your trip even more exciting.
